Burr & Knot is a new furniture design studio specialising in the creation of wild and beautiful nature-inspired pieces.
Working with raw materials, design is at the core of every unique handcrafted piece and it is a love for using natural materials, combined with a commitment to superior quality, that sets Burr & Knot apart from other furniture brands.

This very special patch of rural Cornwall has provided inspiration for the furniture we design and make.
Our mission is to produce honest and authentic furniture that celebrates nature, connecting art with functionality. We love natural materials and unexpected pairings, so you’ll often find us experimenting with contrasting materials such as marble, slate, jesmonite and resin which brings an exciting element to traditional craftsmanship methods and a contemporary feel to our pieces.
All our wood furniture is made from responsibly sourced timber, primarily sourced on the British Isles. Where we can, we use local materials and support Cornish craftspeople so we know the origin of every part of our tables.

At the heart of every project is our commitment to the environment. Since moving to Cornwall we have made it our mission to learn about rewilding and aid efforts in fostering tree planting across the county. It was always really important for us to build a business that gave back more to the environment than we took. We are continually investing in land to rewild and will continue to plant and grow a range of trees, meaning that when you choose a Burr & Knot piece, you are investing in the future.
OUR FOUNDER
Meet James Anderson | Burr & Knot founder
Founded by James Anderson in 2021, Burr & Knot’s mission is to produce honest and authentic furniture that celebrates nature, connecting art with functionality. With a background in fine art and sculpture, Anderson swapped London for Cornwall in 2020. Inspired by the woodland Sussex forests where he grew up, Anderson has been working with wood since a young age and you’ll often find him experimenting with contrasting materials such as marble, slate, jesmonite and resin resulting in a contemporary collection of tables, mirrors and home accessories.

Our range features live-edge dining table tops paired with contrasting sleek slate bases, focusing on clean lines and modern shapes. Each wooden table top has been gently stripped back by hand, revealing the individual story behind each tree. Slate, an often overlooked stone eponymous with Cornwall, features as table tops and frames, providing a welcome juxtaposition to the warmth of the wood.
