Our favourite seasonal spring recipes for a long Easter weekend
An ode to spring
Warmer and longer days, verdant surroundings, blooms aplenty and new life all around us - some of the many reasons why spring is our favourite season in Cornwall.
Inspired by | Cotehele
Cotehele is a stunning medieval Tudor house near Saltash and is the subject of our Inspired By series today. The house really is one of the best historic palaces to explore, with magical. turrets, pretty courtyards and an exceptionally grand hall which conjures up images of Tudor banquets.

Mother’s Day Recipes
Alongside choosing the perfect unique gift for Mother’s Day, cooking up a delicious feast is a sure fire way to make mum feel appreciated and give her a rest. From starting the day with luxurious breakfast dishes in bed, to sumptuous desserts and Sunday lunch specials, here are a few of our favourite mouthwatering recipes that celebrate spring and are sure to go down a treat.
Inspired by | Tintagel
Set high on Cornwall’s rugged north coast, Tintagel inspires conjured images of mediaeval knights and romantic mythical tales, due in part to its link to the legend of King Arthur, but also because of its dramatic cliff top position. Craggy slate-infused cliffs line the coastline and a National Trust walk starting from Bossiney Cove, takes you across coarse landscapes, clambering up steep slopes and dodging sheer drops to discover hidden coves, sandy beaches and fresh waterfalls.
February diary from Cornwall
As the gusty wind courtesy of Storm Eunice blows wails through the workshop, we have retreated inside and currently writing this entry fireside. February in our little corner of the world is almost at an end and March is on the way. The only visual inkling we have that spring is just around the bend is the sprouting of snowdrops and daffodils lining the verges and framing our farmhouse with bursts of friendly yellow trumpets, as skies remain moody and grey.
How to choose a coffee table for your Living Room
We are often asked about our coffee tables and how to go about choosing the right table for your space. If you’re like us, your coffee table has a whole host of functions, from footrest to drinks repository or beautifully styled as a platform for your collection of coffee table books. Choosing the right size and style for your home can be tough though and we often get questions from customers about how to make this decision.
Around the kitchen table
Why creating the perfect focal point for your home life is so important. Whether you’ve been spending more time cooking, homeschooling or just enjoying spending more time investing in family dinner time rituals, how we style and fit our homes and, especially, our kitchens have been the pillar of our lives more than ever before.
From the kitchen: warming soups
There’s nothing better than a steaming hearty bowl of soup at this time of year. The perfect cheery companion for lunch or dinner and moment of respite after a cold blustery walk or chilly day in the workshop. Here, we’ve gathered our favourite soup recipes for you to enjoy.
Designing your own table
At Burr & Knot our bespoke furniture making process allows you total freedom over your design. Whether you have a specific size in mind, favourite timber or material, shape or the whole idea in your head, our designers will work closely with you to build your dream piece.
An ode to autumn
As the nights get longer, the approach of our favourite season brings with it warming drinks, bracing walks and hearty foods. Burning landscapes and tumultuous weather, roaring fires and whisky nightcaps. Discover our favourite ways to make the most of autumn.
Aftercare - How to care for your table
How do I keep my table in tip top shape when natural materials are in play is one of the most common questions we’re asked. Our tables, mostly crafted from big natural pieces of wood, will always undergo a bit of natural movement and shrinkage - especially in the first 12 months in your home.
Notes on sustainability
Good design, quality and function. Unique and sustainable furniture that tells nature’s story. When you choose a Burr & Knot piece, you are investing in the future. All our materials are ethically sourced, from certified British timber merchants and we are passionate about preserving English woodland, already replanting trees on our own land.
