Designing your own table
At Burr & Knot our bespoke furniture making process allows you the freedom to design your perfect table.
Our homes and the furniture we choose to put in them are more important than ever and we understand the desire to have input into the design process. At Burr & Knot, we specialise in the creation of custom-made furniture, from kitchen and dining tables, to unique creative desks and stylish coffee tables, giving you the freedom to craft your own design. Whether you have a specific size in mind, favourite timber or material, shape or the whole idea in your head, our designers will work closely with you to build your dream piece.
CRAFTING YOUR INITIAL SPECIFICATION
Our bespoke design process starts with a consultation over email or on the phone to discuss your ideas and requirements, running through different timber and material options to fully understand your vision. This will happen with our founder and lead designer James, who will direct your project through from start to finish and handcraft your piece. The joy of this bespoke design process is there really aren’t any limitations, giving you complete creative freedom and control over your piece. James will give you the benefit of his experience, recommendations on how different materials work together and practicalities of furniture design.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
After this consultation process, James will then put together a number of different designs for you to choose from, including a range of finishes, timber and material options and intricate details to make sure your furniture is completely unique. There is quite a range of material options available and so we try to make this overwhelming process easier by understanding your taste and styling preferences. For example, live edge wood with gnarly knots and pearlescent hues can make for slightly wilder designs, letting the wood breathe and grow in its natural form, whereas slate and marble tops can add a polished air of refinement to your space. You can be certain that all our materials are sustainably sourced, often locally from the British Isles. He will send you samples of materials and finishes and communicate throughout the design process.
THE END RESULT
After we have finalised the design, we will then get to work crafting your table in our workshop in Cornwall. Along the way, we’ll keep you in the loop with the progress of your piece. Your finished design will be delivered to you and assembled on site ready for full enjoyment by you and your loved ones.
